Proposal #2 - Camera vs. Phone Photography
This proposal was a bit shorter than the last one, but I had fun and I definitely learned a few things about the different cameras. I ended up only using my iPhone and Canon to do the compaisons but there was for sure a few things that stood out to me. They both take relativly good at taking pictures, and I do think that there are advantages to both of them. But with that being said, there are somethings that stand out to me and would make me choose one over the other when it comes to anything other than a quick snap of a picture.
To start things out positively, I'll say the things that I liked about both of them. For the Canon, the photos are absolutely beautiful and I think the camera wuiality is very very nice. Even at it's furthest out zoom it hold its quality and doesn't get very blurry or pixalated at all. With just a little bit of knowedge, it is very easy to use and you can control the focus and settings which allows you to get the photos that you really want. For the phone camera, obviously portablilty is a key factor and having a camera everywhere you do is obviously very nice. The phone camera does take nice photos and for quick and easy photos it is really nice because it adjusts the lighting and focus for you. The zoom on this phone is amazing and really really strong. It does everything internally, so really you don't have to worry about messing with the settings at all.
Now onto the things that I don't particularly like about both of them. Starting out with the Canon again, I do wish it had a better zoo. on it. The standard lens that the camera comes with is only 15 mm to 45mm. By no means is this a reason not to get a camera, but because different lenses do cost a bit of money, I wish the camera could have gone a little closer up on some things. I also personally think that it is a slight hassle to carry a camera around. I'd constantly be worried about damaging it, and a protective case is rather bulky. The other thing that I found annoying is when the camera doesn't take the pictuer. I know it's a feature to get good pictures and it probably can be overridden, but there were and have been alot of times where I'm taking pictures with purposeful low lighting or really close and I think it would make a good shot, but the camera just won't click. With all that being said, I do still like taking picutres with the camera.
For the phone, one thing that I didn't like was not being able to control anything really. Basically all I could do was change the lighting and somewhat choose the point of focus. That to me was fairly annoying. Another thing I didn't like was the fact that once you zoom in enough the camera quality quite considerably drops. It isn't the end of the world, but it is a little annoying. The other thing was for some reason when I tried to take landscape photos, my finger got in the way a lot more than it ever did with the Canon. I think it was just because of the placement of the camera, but either way ot wasn't too big a deal.
I do think though, I prefer the Canon to my phone. My phone does take nice photos and is nicely portable, but with everything put together, the Canon just seems to take better photos.
